"Is it dream or..." (Part 3)
I suggest you read the 'first' & 'second' part for the complete context... if you haven't read before.
“Remember Isha, your sister?”
I felt the last word came along with thunder & lightnings... I was motionless for sometime as the name ‘Isha’ took me back to those days. I didn’t know how or what to respond… Somehow I managed to reply, “I don’t have any sisters... I don't know whom are you referring to... “
“Yeah, that makes sense in a way as she wasn’t your ‘biological’ sister…” came back her reply stressing on the word ‘biological’ as she turned back face me… “You know exactly what I am talking about and the person I am referring to here.. Don’t you?”
I realized then she knew a lot about me. I decided not to play around and listen to what she had to say. “Oh.. yes, I remember… I know Isha. That was long back. I even knew many of her friends… But, I don’t remember you or anyone named Sneha”
She just gave a smile before continuing, “That didn’t surprise me at all. I was a bit shy. And I was not that attractive back then.”
Wait a minute. Where does that came from! “What? What do you mean… how is that all related?” I cut her short this time.
“You were popular those days and I was just an ordinary girl. I don’t deny that we never met. May be I tried not to… May be I was scared of how you would react! I feared your ignorance for me not being attractive… so I avoided myself…”
“Come to the point miss… what are you trying to say… Besides, I don’t think I was so popular like you branded me... I was president of student union so they all knew me that’s all…” I wanted to end the suspense hidden in her tone...
“Hmmm… I know that… The point is, I used to like you a lot… Or shall I say, I had certain feelings…” she paused for a while before saying, “But, my feelings all evaporated that Sunday…”
I saw a drastic change in her expression this time. She wasn’t smiling anymore. Which Sunday is she talking about. Does she know about… No… No… Nobody was there that day… Or, did she saw what happened inside... Is she fooling around or if she is really telling the truth... Shit, why I am thinking about all this when she can read my thoughts… I looked into her eyes, knowing that she read what I was thinking. Her sarcastic smile was enough for me to realize that she did…
“You weren’t alone that day Sunil. I saw you leaving that room, shocked. Shocked as if you had done a crime… a cold blooded crime”
Her words came sharply this time that made me froze. I couldn’t stand firm, my head started reeling. I was about to fall…
I opened my eyes, back to the real world. I wasn’t sure this time if it was just a nightmare. May be it wasn’t. Two tiny drops of tears shed from my eyes as I sat there on my bed, thinking about what sneha said in the dreams and what actually happened with Isha that Sunday. It wasn’t my mistake… It wasn’t my intention… I was just trying to protect her… It was not my fault… It was not my fault… I kept on repeating….
To be contd…
